Zomato just banned AI-generated food images. A month ago, Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal called on restaurants to stop using AI for menu photos. Why? These images were misleading customers, damaging trust, and causing more complaints and refunds. Now, Zomato has officially stepped in to enforce the ban. Although right now only 2% of their 276,000 restaurant partners use AI-generated images, Deepinder Goyal isn’t taking any chances. They’ve developed AI tools that can detect these AI-generated images with 90% accuracy.

Restaurants usually spend ₹7,000 to ₹15,000 on professional food photoshoots. This could be one of the reasons why their restaurant partners were choosing AI-generated images. Now, Zomato is stepping up by offering these photoshoots for just ₹4,000 to ₹5,000. This all started when a customer complained online, and Deepinder Goyal promised action—now, he’s delivered. Zomato’s move isn’t just about photos, it’s about rebuilding trust.
