AI platform HuggingFace has unveiled HopeJR, a $3,000 open-source humanoid robot with 66 degrees of freedom that can walk and manipulate objects using tactile fingertip sensors.
Co-designed with The Robot Studio, HopeJR uses modular 3D-printed parts with all hardware designs, software, and assembly instructions freely available on GitHub—including direct Alibaba purchase links for components.
The company also announced Reachy Mini, a $300 desktop AI testing platform.
HuggingFace aims to democratize robotics and prevent industry domination by major tech corporations through accessible, transparent robotics development.
