In early 2025, the Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, discovered that a compromising video of himself was spreading like wildfire across social media. The problem though was that it wasn’t real. The entire thing was fabricated by AI. Someone, somewhere had taken a few seconds of his likeness and fed it into a generator that produced a perfect deepfake that looked real enough to completely humiliate him.

And Bhagwant is only one story. This isn’t just about one video or one victim. It’s about how AI slop is quietly eating away at reality itself, and whether there’s anything left we can do to stop it.
