Chinese Artificial Intelligence (AI) models have long been a feature of everyday life, and were widely used in China’s industrial and service sectors for many months before news of them reached Wall Street in late January.

China built hundreds of AI factories that run on the latest Large Language Models. Now, a hundred top hospitals employ AI systems, including DeepSeek, across all the major fields of medicine.

Tech companies work closely with major hospital systems in China’s Tier-1 cities, and immediately deploy the latest techniques to tertiary hospitals nationwide.

China aims to be the world’s leading destination for medical tourism, both on the island province of Hainan, and in the leading hospitals in Mainland China. The latest developments in medical AI will soon be broadly applied in genomics and personalized medicine, while sharply driving down the treatment cost for foreign patients who need the most advanced medical care.
