Recently, a bombshell rocked the global AI startup scene. A Chinese AI startup called Manus was reportedly acquired by Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg for billions of dollars. This deal is said to be one of Meta’s top three acquisitions in history, just behind WhatsApp and Scale AI.
But what’s even more surprising is that, in March 2025, Manus’ AI product was highly promoted by the Chinese government as the "world's first general-purpose AI intelligence" and was featured on the Chinese Communist Party’s top propaganda platform, CCTV News, being hailed as the "main force of Chinese AI."
