President Joe Biden will champion a major Microsoft Corp. investment in swing-state Wisconsin, drawing a contrast with his 2024 rival Donald Trump, whose own plans for a flagship technology project by Foxconn at the same site fizzled.

Microsoft President Brad Smith will join Biden in Racine County, Wisconsin, on Wednesday to announce a $3.3 billion plan by the company to build an artificial intelligence data center, according to a White House statement. Smith is from the state.

The facility will be built on land once chosen for a massive investment by Taiwanese electronics giant Foxconn, that was hailed by Trump when he was president as “the eighth wonder of the world.” Trump attended a groundbreaking in 2018, citing it as a centerpiece of his efforts to bring more manufacturing jobs to the US.
